Vietnam's major food crops include rice, sugarcane, sweet potato, corn, cassava and nuts. As per the latest Vietnam customs data, Vietnam's agri-products exports recorded an all time high of 53 billion US Dollars in 2022. It was 9% more as compared to the previous year.
In terms of exports, Vietnam recorded maximum export shipments for rice, pepper, cashews, cassava, rubber, marine products and furniture. Marine sector was the major gainer as it alone accounted for 11 billion US Dollars in 2022. China was the largest importer of Agricultural products from Vietnam.

Top 5 Agricultural Products Exports of Vietnam in 2022
Rice
According to the latest Vietnam export data of rice, Vietnam was the second largest rice exporter after India. The major rice categories by exports were semi-milled rice, broken rice, husk rice and paddy rice.
In 2022, Vietnam exports of rice were around 7 million metric tonnes worth 3.45 billion US Dollars. It was 12% more as compared to previous years. In 2020, Vietnam rice exports will be worth around 2.8 billion US Dollars.
The major importers of Vietnamese rice were Philippines (1 billion US Dollars), China (464 million US Dollars), Ghana (282 million US Dollars), Malaysia (235 million US Dollars) and Cote D'Ivoire (208 million US Dollars).
On the other hand, our Vietnam import data reflects that the country’s rice imports were around 135 million US Dollars in 2020. Vietnam's maximum import shipments were from Cambodia (83 million US Dollars), China (13 million US Dollars) and India (10 million US Dollars).
Pepper
Vietnam is the leading pepper exporter in the world. Vietnam accounts for over 50% of the world's total pepper produce. It is Vietnam's 70th most exported product.
For the fiscal year 2021, Vietnam pepper exports worth 962 million US Dollars. Vietnam has exported over 260 metric tons of pepper in 2021. The primary importers of Vietnamese pepper were the United States, China, Germany, the United Arab Emirates and India.
Whereas Vietnam imported over 16000 metric tons of pepper in 2021. Vietnam's maximum pepper imports were from Indonesia (48%) followed by Brazil, India, China, and Cambodia.
Cashews
Vietnam is the world's leading cashew nut exporter in the world. As per the latest Vietnam import export data, over 573 tons of cashew nuts will be exported in 2021. This was 12% more as compared to the previous year, 2020. For the fiscal year 2022, Vietnam's total cashew nuts exports were around 3.5 billion US Dollars as compared to 195 million US Dollars in 2021.
The United States was the major importer of Vietnamese cashew nuts with over 1.5 billion US Dollars imports. On the other hand, Vietnam's total cashew nuts imports were around 2.6 million metric tons in 2021. Most of the import shipments were from African and European countries.
Cassava & Rubber
Rubber is the most traded product in Vietnam. Vietnam is among the top 5 rubber exporters in the world. Thailand, Burma, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Cambodia are currently the top 5 rubber exporters in the world.
For the fiscal year 2022, Vietnam's rubber exports were around 3.2 billion US Dollars. It was 36% more than the previous year. In 2021, Vietnam exported 1955 million metric tons of Rubber.
Vietnam's major rubber importers were China, India and South Korea. As per China import data 2022, Vietnam exported 70% of its rubber to China (1.52 million tons).
Vietnam is the 3rd largest cassava exporter in the world. In May 2022, Vietnam exported over 20 million US Dollars. Most of it was from China. China imported over 90% of Vietnam's total cassava exports volume.
Marine Products
Vietnam is the major seafood market in South Asia. Vietnam provides a variety of marine food products in dired/frozen/fresh form. Vietnam's major sea food export products include shrimps, fish cakes, prawns, molluscs, tuna, pangasius etc.
As per 2021 Vietnam trade data, Vietnam exported over 2.4 billion US Dollars. It was similar to the 2020 export value. Japan, the United States, the European Union, China and South Korea were among the top importers of Vietnam's seafood.
