Uganda coffee exports rose
Uganda coffee exports rose to 400 Kg millions in 2022 making it the largest coffee exporter from Africa. Uganda leads the coffee export market in East Africa. As per the Uganda import export data reports 2022, Uganda's coffee exports increased by 54% as compared to last year coffee exports. There were around 6.3 million bags of coffee worth 862 million US Dollars in 2022.

On the other hand, in 2021, 6 million bags of coffee were shipped in 2021 with worth 559 million US Dollars. According to the Uganda customs data, Uganda's coffee exports shipments increased by 3% in 2022. 


Our Uganda export data by country reflects that Algeria, Morocco, Sudan, Tanzania, South Africa, Tunisia, Kenya and Somalia are the largest importer of Coffee from Uganda. Italy, Sudan and Spain are the fastest growing markets for Uganda's coffee. On the other hand, Uganda does the majority of its coffee imports from Burundi, Congo, Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania.


Robusta Kiboko, Arabica , Sasa Coffee Trading, Nsangi Coffee Farmers, Empire Agricultural, Coffee Services, Nitubaasa Export Ltd, Imara African Coffee Ltd, Bio Nile (U) Ltd, Kamuli Investments Ltd and Gorrilla Summit Coffee Development Ltd were the top Uganda imports exports companies in 2022.


As per the Global import export data provider company reports, Brazil, Vietnam, Colombia, Indonesia, Honduras, Peru, India, Uganda, Mexico and Ethiopia were the top coffee exporters globally. Globally Uganda ranked 8th largest coffee exporter.


African Coffee Exports 2022


Africa is a very niche market for Coffee Exports. Africa is known for producing quality coffee, tea and other beverages. Amongst African countries, Ethiopia was the second largest exporter of Coffee in 2022. African countries import export data reports suggest that coffee exports from Africa were around 2.5 billion US Dollars in 2022. 


The major coffee exporting countries in 2021 were Ethiopia (1.2 billion US Dollars), Uganda (594 million US Dollars), Kenya (248 million US Dollars), Tanzania (171 million US Dollars), Rwanda (85 million US Dollars), Burundi (46 million US Dollars), Cameroon (31 million US Dollars), Côte d'ivoire (24 million US Dollars), Congo (22 million US Dollars) and South Africa (21 million US Dollars).

Uganda has a very fertile land. Almost 80% of Uganda's land is arable. In 2022, Uganda agricultural exports rose by 2.8%. It was around 720 US Dollars in 2022. Coffee, Sugar, Tea, Groundnuts, Livestock, Fish, Edible Oils, Beans, Corn, Cassava, Sorghum, Cotton and Tobacco are some of the major agricultural produce of Uganda. According to Uganda import data, the major agricultural imports of Uganda were Wheat, Sauces, Proteins, Seeds, Seafood and Rice.
